PDF files are a common way of publishing and sharing design data for review and markup. AutoCAD currently supports the creation of PDF files as a publishing output for drawings. PDF files can be attached to drawings, which can be used as references when collaborating on projects. In AutoCAD 2017 for Mac, you can import the geometry, TrueType text, and raster images from a specified page in a PDF file or from all or part of an attached PDF underlay.
I'm asking because I have a customer who wants to use our custom tool palette in AutoCAD LT MAC (not sure what version) and the latest review I could find covered AutoCAD LT MAC 2017... -even-better-autocad-2017-mac/
We have developed a full set of tool palette driven menus that use programming to insert dynamic blocks that represent our full product line of conveyor machinery. This would never work in LT, but the dynamic blocks work just fine. So with some description in the tool tips and headings, I was able to create an LT version which allows for all the same blocks to get inserted in LT, just like regular AutoCAD, just requiring more clicks on grips after placement. I never aimed at AutoCAD LT MAC users, but one asked how to set it up in MAC LT today.
The nice thing is I develop everything in AutoCAD 2011 and all my users can use the library in AutoCAD LT 2010 up through 2019, and my full AutoCAD version works through the same years (only requiring a few forks in programming for one or two settings that have changed over the last decade).
Ok, since we are clearing things up for anyone who also has to know what will or will not work for AutoCAD LT for MAC, the tool palettes referenced in the 2018 feature set for full AutoCAD Mac 2019 apparently do not share the full extent of customization of tool palettes found in their Windows counterpart, and are basically glorified toolbars. Tool palettes on Windows AutoCAD LT allows for users to drag and drop any dwg file into a tool palette to create a customizable insertion tool for that block - even dynamic blocks - and set all dynamic properties and things like which layer the block will land on, rotation (either fixed to whatever angle or prompt) scale- (same kind of choice), auxiliary scale, explode on insert, and a lot more. Heck, even folders full of dwg files can be made into insertion tools without programming a thing. This functionality still doesn't exist in Mac versions even though the feature comparison on the Autodesk website lists \"customize the ribbon and tool palettes\" under the AutoCAD Mac feature set when compared to Windows AutoCAD (uses same verbiage for both Win and Mac). Therefore it is not possible on AutoCAD Mac or AutoCAD LT Mac to import or map a custom tool palette full of insertion tools made on a Windows AutoCAD installation.
AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT are available for English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Czech, Polish and Hungarian (also through additional language packs). The extent of localization varies from full translation of the product to documentation only. The AutoCAD command set is localized as a part of the software localization.
AutoCAD LT is the lower-cost version of AutoCAD, with reduced capabilities, first released in November 1993. Autodesk developed AutoCAD LT to have an entry-level CAD package to compete in the lower price level. Priced at $495, it became the first AutoCAD product priced below $1000. It was sold directly by Autodesk and in computer stores unlike the full version of AutoCAD, which must be purchased from official Autodesk dealers. AutoCAD LT 2015 introduced Desktop Subscription service from $360 per year; as of 2018, three subscription plans were available, from $50 a month to a 3-year, $1170 license.
AutoCAD is licensed, for free, to students, educators, and educational institutions, with a 12-month renewable license available. Licenses acquired before March 25, 2020 were a 36-month license, with its last renovation on March 24, 2020. The student version of AutoCAD is functionally identical to the full commercial version, with one exception: DWG files created or edited by a student version have an internal bit-flag set (the \"educational flag\"). When such a DWG file is printed by any version of AutoCAD (commercial or student) older than AutoCAD 2014 SP1 or AutoCAD 2019 and newer, the output includes a plot stamp/banner on all four sides. Objects created in the Student Version cannot be used for commercial use. Student Version objects \"infect\" a commercial version DWG file if they are imported in versions older than AutoCAD 2015 or newer than AutoCAD 2018.
Autodesk stopped supporting Apple's Macintosh computers in 1994. Over the next several years, no compatible versions for the Mac were released. In 2010 Autodesk announced that it would once again support Apple's Mac OS X software in the future. Most of the features found in the 2012 Windows version can be found in the 2012 Mac version. The main difference is the user interface and layout of the program. The interface is designed so that users who are already familiar with Apple's macOS software will find it similar to other Mac applications. Autodesk has also built-in various features in order to take full advantage of Apple's Trackpad capabilities as well as the full-screen mode in Apple's OS X Lion. AutoCAD 2012 for Mac supports both the editing and saving of files in DWG formatting that will allow the file to be compatible with other platforms besides macOS. AutoCAD 2019 for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or later.
AutoCAD LT 2013 was available through the Mac App Store for $899.99. The full-featured version of AutoCAD 2013 for Mac, however, wasn't available through the Mac App Store due to the price limit of $999 set by Apple. AutoCAD 2014 for Mac was available for purchase from Autodesk's web site for $4,195 and AutoCAD LT 2014 for Mac for $1,200, or from an Autodesk authorized reseller. The latest version available for Mac is AutoCAD 2022 as of January 2022.
With this new functionality, explains Autodesk, users can specify the scale, rotation and insertion point of the imported geometry; control the types of data imported from the PDF (geometry, solid fills, text and raster objects); control how layers are assigned to imported objects; and set different post-processing options for imported geometry.A new PDFIMPORT command also provides an alternate method for importing geometry into a drawing. The initial options, says Autodesk, provide a choice either to select an attached PDF underlay or to specify a PDF file.AutoCAD 2017 for Mac also now supports OS X native Full Screen mode. This functionality provides the ability to use a split view with AutoCAD.
Miscellaneous features debuting in the 2017 versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT for Mac include the ability to sign in and access Autodesk accounts from within the application window, support for multiple open AutoCAD sessions, associative centerlines and center marks as well as enhancements to the text editor visor. AutoCAD 2017 for Mac also introduces a new License Manager that, says Autodesk, makes it easier for users to change between license types and save work when a network license loses connection with the License Manager.
To make a full uninstallation of AutoCAD, you need to remove both the app and all its associated service files. App Cleaner & Uninstaller automatically finds all of these files and helps to completely remove AutoCAD from your Mac.
